Leadership

Development Programs
Leadership Development
Professor Hess has developed two leadership development training
courses including an outsourced executive program at Insead entitled,
“Leadership & Change.” While there are over 200 definitions of
leadership, our work emphasizes the following principles:
- Different types of leaders are needed at different stages
of a businesses’ life cycle;
- Most entrepreneurs or visionaries are poor managers; and
- Leadership is the courage to act in the best interests of
your followers in such a way that you earn their enthusiastic
loyalty and trust.
Leadership
personalities, styles, and temperaments are not as important as
a leadership values and actions. What values do you and your business
stand for? Your values are your corporate culture.

Business School, Emory University. Professor Hess teaches Leadership
and has initiated an Experiential Week-End Leadership Training
Program at
Goizueta. Business Week recently ranked Goizueta's Leadership
Training Program the #1 MBA Leadership Training Program in the
United
States (Oct 18, 2004, P. 90).
Employee
Development
Most
people want to succeed – to be good at their jobs. Unfortunately,
most people do not know how to proactively manage their life to
maximize the probability of success.
Our
training program, which is based on Professor Hess’ book, Make
It Happen, teaches managers and employees to:
- Manage
their life daily by objectives;
- Prioritize,
focus, and measure their progress daily;
- Make
better decisions using a four-step model; and
- Improve
daily through mental rehearsal and replay techniques.
We teach the concepts of strategic fit, chunking, risk-reward
decision making, and how to be proactive and anticipate versus
being reactive in an ever changing world.
A rapidly changing and unpredictable world requires all of us
to take more responsibility for our lives — both personally and
professionally. Ed draws on an impressive career that encompasses
law, investment banking and management consulting to discuss some
basic management tools and to present some very easy to follow
exercises that will help readers do just that. Anyone who follows
his suggestions cannot help but feel more confident about operating
in a world of constant change.

“Make it Happen! grabbed me as superbly motivational and
fun. It is perfect for motivating your employees to be more proactive
and to continually work towards self-improvement. Its wisdom and
good old common sense can help many deal with rapid changes and
escalating competitive conditions. So it is a must in today’s
hyper-competitive world.”
